Ph.D.
Our group studies the opportunistic pathogen Streptococcus agalactiae, a microorganism known to colonize the vaginal and gastrointestinal tracts, in addition to be one of the leading causes of neonatal meningitis. The main focus of my research is to understand the dynamics of interations between this organism and other microbial species in the vaginal environment, as well as the host inflammatory response to bacterial colonization and infection.
