Announcing Summer Research Stipends in the Department of Microbiology
Stipends of $3,200 will be available competitively to pursue summer research projects in research labs associated with the Department of Microbiology at the University of Tennessee. Sophomore and junior students, intent on a research-oriented career, are invited to apply to the department for this award to support summer research through the upcoming (May-August) summer session. Although open to all students, priority will be given to students intending to turn their summer research into a research project (Microbiology 400 or 401) or senior honors thesis (Microbiology 401 and 402). Supplemental support will be available to allow students to present the results of their study at a regional or national meeting.

Students interested in applying for this award should write a letter addressing the merit criteria mentioned above including a one-page description of the research project and attach a recent transcript and a letter of support from the potential sponsoring Microbiology faculty member. Application details to be announced in April.
